Campers in the Chisos Mountains hike-in sites are now required to pack out human waste, and it's likely that this requirement will be extended to primitive roadside campsites soon. The Restop® 2 is one of several products approved as a personal waste system for Big Bend.
Perfect for those who care about the environment and who don’t want to pollute with human waste, the Restop® 2 uses a patented "bag within a bag" design to safely contain and neutralize human waste. Restop contains the odor as well as the waste. The outer bag is a Mylar gas-impervious bag. The same polymers and deodorizers used in the RS1 are inside, with a slightly different set of enzymes for solid waste. The Restop 2 system contains the odor as well as the waste, providing a user-friendly and pleasant means to pack out solid waste. Ample toilet paper and a moist antiseptic towelette are included.
Big Bend National Park & Rio Grande Wild and Scenic River regulations specify that "ALL HUMAN WASTE WILL BE CARRIED OUT with a dump station compatible waste system or an NPS-approved personal waste system. The approved personal waste systems are the Restop, Wag Bag, or a commercially produced 'blue bags' waste system. Day trip users are encouraged to bring a personal wastes system."
Anyone who can’t get to a restroom can use RESTOP products! Pilots, boaters, campers, hikers, hunters and families all love RESTOP because it can go anywhere, stored until you need it. Keep a supply in the car to avoid the problem of finding a restroom when you need it.
A slightly gross but necessary note: This item contains one bag, not two. The "2" in the name means it's approved for solid waste, not just liquid-- in other words, it works for "number two."
