Paisanos Past is a collection of articles from the first twenty years of the Big Bend Paisano, the park’s interpretive newspaper. From the era of the Dallas Huts through the earthquake of 1996, there are articles on park events and changes (the Blue Creek fire, the park’s 50th anniversary and the return of black bears to the park) as well as natural history subjects (geology, birds, paleontology, wildflowers, archeology, history and wildlife). Executive Director Mike Boren says that “there may be more distilled knowledge about the Big Bend between these covers than exists in any other single publication we sell.”
