Good morning, everyone,
Today brings several light‑hearted observances — National Orange Juice Day, Candied Orange Peel Day, National Kids Fitness Day, and of course, the ever‑popular “May the 4th be with you.”
However, I want to take a moment to highlight an observance that is especially meaningful to our work and our community: International Firefighters Day.
This day is dedicated to honoring the courage, dedication, and service of firefighters around the world. For those of us here in Big Bend, the importance of this recognition is close to home. Our structural, volunteer, and wildland firefighters face challenging terrain, unpredictable conditions, and long hours to help protect the park, its visitors, and our neighboring communities.
International Firefighters Day is an opportunity to show appreciation for their commitment and to reflect on the essential role they play in our safety and emergency response efforts. Please take a moment today to acknowledge and thank the firefighters you work with or encounter — their service truly makes a difference.
Thank you all for your continued dedication to keeping the park and its visitors safe.
