Old Maverick has been evaluated and the gate has been opened. All traffic must follow posted signage to ensure safety. RT 16 (Santa Elena Canyon) remains closed until the water has dried up and road crews can clear the debris. Remember, vehicle drivers are responsible for recovery of their own vehicles, should they become disabled, Big Bend NP does not have the required equipment to recover disabled vehicles.
